MOBILE WELDING LUBBOCK, TX
On the South Plains, the welder usually has to come to the work. A cotton stripper does not fit in a pickup, a center pivot cannot leave the field, and a pipe fence is attached to the ground. Alpha Mobile Welding TX coordinates on-site welding in Lubbock through partner welders who drive out with engine-driven machines, wire feeders and the rod and filler the job calls for. Farm equipment, pipe fence, trailers, oilfield iron and city steel are all handled where they sit. Call 979-250-7486 or send photos through the form to get a scope and a price range.
Same-day and harvest-season calls are subject to partner availability in Lubbock.
On-site welding
Lubbock sits in the middle of the largest contiguous cotton-growing region in the country, and from Loop 289 you are ten minutes from a field in any direction. Welding here is mostly about keeping iron working: a module builder with a cracked hydraulic cylinder mount, a grain trailer with a split hopper seam, a center pivot tower with a sheared truss rod, a stripper header with a broken auger bracket. None of that goes to a shop during harvest. A mobile welder drives to the field, the gin yard or the farm shop and fixes it in place.
Alpha does not operate a shop or office in Lubbock. We coordinate the work and a Lubbock-area partner welder performs it. You send photos, describe the item and give the location, even if the location is a turnrow off FM 1585. The coordinator confirms material, process and access and gives a range before dispatch. The partner shows up with what that scope needs: 7018 and 6011 rod for farm steel, dual-shield flux-core for thick plate, a spool gun and 5356 for aluminum, TIG for stainless.
Inside the city the calls change. Texas Tech-area rentals and older homes near 34th Street need gate, railing and stair repairs. Businesses in the Depot District want railings and canopies fixed. New builds in Southwest Lubbock, Wolfforth and Shallowater need fence, gate and structural touch-ups. Partners cover all of it.
Common repairs
The repairs partners drive out for most often on the South Plains.
Header frames, auger mounts, basket hinges and cylinder brackets crack under harvest loads. Partners repair them at the field edge with stick or flux-core so the machine is back running the same day when possible.
Truss rods shear, tower legs bend in wind and span pipe cracks at the flange. Partners weld galvanized pivot steel with proper ventilation and re-coat the repair with zinc-rich primer.
Hopper seams split, tongues crack and tandem hangers break on grain carts and module trailers. Field repairs keep hauling going between the farm and the elevator or gin.
Pipe fence around acreage from Shallowater to Wolfforth rusts at the caliche line and rails pull loose. Partners cut out rusted sections and sleeve or replace posts.
Pump jack skids, tank battery stairs, pipe racks and trailer-mounted units out toward Levelland and Slaton need brackets, handrails and frame cracks repaired on location.
Wind-loaded driveway gates, porch rails and exterior stairs crack at hinges and posts across Tech Terrace, South Lubbock and newer subdivisions.

Why Alpha Welding
A coordinator who scopes the job and a partner who shows up ready for West Texas conditions.
We confirm the material, thickness and access before dispatch so the partner brings the right rod, wire, gas and wind protection.
Lubbock partners work on harvest equipment, pivots and pipe fence regularly and understand what a farm cannot afford to have down.
We say what is realistic. During harvest or a dust storm, same-day may not happen, and you will hear that up front.
A range based on scope and travel comes before dispatch. Travel outside Loop 289 is quoted with the job.
How it works
From first call to finished weld in four steps.
Call or send the form with photos, the item and the location. A field address or GPS pin works for farm jobs.
The coordinator confirms process, material and access and gives a price range. Engineering or inspection needs are flagged.
A Lubbock-area partner is matched to the work and arrives with the equipment and consumables that scope calls for.
The partner welds, checks the repair and leaves the item ready to run. Photos are available on request.
Local guide
The South Plains have their own welding conditions. Here is how partners deal with them.
Lubbock wind rarely stops, and MIG shielding gas blows off the puddle at anything over a few miles an hour, leaving porosity you can see. For outdoor work partners default to stick or self-shielded flux-core, which carry their own shielding in the rod or wire, and save hard-wire MIG for inside a shop or behind a windscreen. On the days a spring dust storm rolls in off the caprock, the partner may stop, cover the joint and wait, because grit in a weld is grit in a weld.
Cotton strippers and module builders are high-strength steel with lots of formed sheet, and cracks start at stress points like auger bearing mounts and cylinder lugs. The partner grinds the crack out, drills the ends, and welds with 7018 or dual-shield for strength, then adds a gusset or doubler plate where the original design was marginal. Hydraulic lines and wiring are moved or shielded first. Lint and dust around a stripper are a fire risk, so the area is blown off and a fire watch is kept during and after welding.
Pivot spans, towers and truss rods are galvanized, and welding zinc without ventilation makes people sick. Partners grind the coating back from the joint, work upwind with the wind doing the ventilation for once, and weld with 7018 or 6011 depending on the fit-up. The repair is cleaned and coated with cold galvanizing compound. Bent tower legs are straightened or replaced rather than welded in the bent position, since a pivot tower carries its load through geometry.
Caliche is hard, alkaline and holds moisture against steel at the ground line, so pipe posts rust through right at the surface. Partners cut rusted posts off below grade and sleeve new pipe over the stub, or set a new post in concrete. Rails are joined with a saddle cut and a full wrap weld using 6011 for the root and 7018 for the cap. On high-wind sites a longer post and a diagonal brace keep a gate panel from working the welds loose.
Service companies around Levelland, Slaton and the eastern Lubbock County fields need brackets, handrails, stairs and skids repaired on location. Partners follow site safety rules, carry extinguishers and welding blankets and do not weld on tanks, vessels or lines that have carried product without a proper clean-out and gas test. Anything that touches pressure or a vehicle frame is welded to a spec, and photos are provided for the file.
Send photos of the break and a field location. A coordinator will check partner availability and tell you honestly what can happen today.

FAQs
What South Plains customers ask before booking.
No. Alpha coordinates on-site welding and a Lubbock-area partner welder performs it. There is no Alpha shop, office or yard in Lubbock. One call reaches a coordinator who scopes the job, gives a range and dispatches a partner.
Yes. Farm and pivot repairs are a large share of the work here. Give a field location, a gate or a landmark and the partner drives out with an engine-driven welder. Travel outside Loop 289 is quoted with the job.
Yes, with the right process. Partners use stick or self-shielded flux-core outdoors because MIG shielding gas blows away. A windscreen is set up when MIG or TIG is required, for example on aluminum. During a dust storm the work may pause.
Yes. Cracked header frames, auger mounts, cylinder lugs and basket hinges are common calls. Partners grind out the crack, weld it with 7018 or dual-shield and add a gusset where the design needs help. Lint is cleared and a fire watch is kept.
Yes. Partners grind the zinc back from the joint, work upwind with ventilation and recoat the repair with cold galvanizing compound. Bent tower legs are replaced or straightened, not welded crooked.
Sometimes. It depends on partner availability, which gets tight during harvest and planting. We never guarantee same-day. Call early with photos and the coordinator will tell you what is realistic.
It depends on scope, material, access and travel. The coordinator gives a range before dispatch. Small gate and bracket repairs are the low end; equipment, aluminum and structural work run higher due to time and consumables.
Yes. Partners build pipe fence, corrals and entry gates on acreage and ranchettes, with posts set for caliche and wind. Material can be supplied by the partner or by you. Repairs to existing fence are also common.
Yes for trailers, hitches and racks. Truck frame repairs are done only where the manufacturer allows welding and to a spec, since frame heat treatment and liability matter. The coordinator will tell you which category your job falls in.
Partners handle canopies, columns, stairs and railings at businesses from the Depot District to Southwest Lubbock. Load-bearing repairs follow an engineer’s detail and are prepared for inspection when the city requires it.
