RESIDENTIAL MOBILE WELDING
A sagging driveway gate, a wobbly porch railing, a trailer tongue with a crack you noticed while hitching up. Homeowners rarely need a welder until they suddenly do, and hauling a gate or a staircase to a shop is not realistic. Alpha Mobile Welding TX coordinates partner welders who come to your home, ranchette or rental property anywhere in Texas and handle the repair in your driveway. Here is what they fix, what to expect on arrival and how small-job pricing works.
No power hookup needed. Same-day visits subject to partner availability.
The basics
A mobile welder for home welding repairs brings a truck or trailer with an engine-driven welding machine, a generator for grinders and saws, shielding gas, and a rack of common steel sizes. The work happens where the broken part sits. A gate is repaired on its hinges, a railing on its posts, a trailer on its wheels. There is no dismantling, no shop queue and no second trip to reinstall.
Most home jobs are mild steel: square tube gates, pipe fence, angle-iron railings, channel trailer frames. Partners weld these with stick (SMAW) for thick, rusty or outdoor steel and MIG (GMAW) for cleaner, thinner material where a tidy bead matters. Aluminum patio furniture, boat trailers and ladder racks take TIG or spool-gun MIG with the right filler. Cast iron, such as an old porch column or a cracked grill grate, needs nickel rod and careful preheat, and some pieces are too far gone to save honestly.
What makes residential work different is the setting. The welder is working next to your car, your landscaping and sometimes your dog, so part of the job is protecting what surrounds the repair: welding blankets over pavers, an extinguisher at hand, sparks aimed away from windows and siding.
Common calls
If it is metal and it broke at your house, it is probably on this list.
Sagging swing gates, hinges torn off posts, cracked frames at the latch corner, slide gate rollers and tracks, automatic gate operator brackets. Most gate calls are a hinge and a sag fixed in one visit.
Rusted-through rails, broken pickets, posts snapped at grade after a vehicle bump, panels loose from a leaning post. Partners splice new steel to sound metal and prime it the same day.
Loose handrail posts, cracked stringers, balusters missing or bent, porch railings that move when leaned on. These are safety repairs and go to the front of the schedule.
Rusted post bases, beam connections pulled loose in wind, purlins cracked at the weld, new posts set and welded when a car or storm took the old one out.
Cracked tongues and couplers, broken spring hangers, fender brackets, ramp hinges, torn cross-members and loose safety-chain loops on utility, boat and livestock trailers.
Grill carts and fire pits, basketball goal poles, mailbox posts, swing set and playset frames, furniture frames, ranch pens, feeders, cattle guards and round-pen panels.
Services
Partners repair, modify and fabricate the metal homeowners live with.
Re-hanging gates on heavy-duty weld-on hinges, adding diagonal braces to stop sag, replacing latch posts, and building new walk or drive gates to match an existing fence. See gate welding.
Replacing broken rails and pickets, sleeving posts rusted at grade, welding panels back to posts and adding kick plates where mowers keep hitting the bottom rail. See fence welding.
Tightening loose posts, replacing balusters at code spacing, repairing stringers and treads, and extending or raising rails for safety. See metal stairs welding.
Cutting out rusted post bases, welding on new base plates, re-anchoring to the slab, and repairing beam and purlin connections after wind damage.
Tongue and coupler replacement, spring hanger and axle bracket welding, deck and ramp repairs, receiver hitches and tie-down points on utility, boat and stock trailers.
Mailbox posts, basketball goal repairs, fire pit rings, bench and table frames, planter frames, ranch panels and feeders, custom brackets for anything that needs mounting.
Why Alpha Welding
One number for the whole state, with partners who treat your property like their own.
The welder comes to you, so gates stay on their posts, trailers stay in the driveway and the repair is finished in one visit whenever possible.
Photos get you a price range before anyone drives out, including when a repair is not worth doing and replacement makes more sense.
Repairs are primed or painted for Texas sun, humidity and coastal air so the fix does not become the next rust spot.
Houston, DFW, Austin, San Antonio and dozens of surrounding cities, with availability confirmed for your address when you call.
How it works
Most residential jobs go from first call to finished weld in a few steps.
Text or upload a few pictures of the damage with a tape measure in frame, plus your address and the best time to come.
A partner reviews the photos, gives a price or range, and tells you if replacement would be smarter than repair.
The welder arrives with the right machine and steel, protects the area, does the repair and primes or paints the weld.
You check the work, get before-and-after photos if you want them, and pay the partner directly for the completed job.
Technical guide
A little preparation makes a residential welding visit faster and cheaper; these notes cover the questions homeowners ask most.
Nothing electrical. Partners run engine-driven welders and generators, so your outlets and breaker panel are not involved and a house with no power can still get a repair. What they do need is access: a gate code, a clear path for a truck to within a hose length of the work, and room to swing a grinder. Move vehicles out of the spark zone, roll up hoses, and put pets inside or in a closed yard; arc flash and sparks are no place for a curious dog. If the item is a trailer, have it unloaded and reachable from both sides.
Many HOA covenants dictate fence and gate height, picket style and color, so a repair that matches the existing design rarely draws attention, while a new gate may need architectural approval first. Pool barriers are governed by state and local code: minimum height, self-closing and self-latching gates that swing away from the pool, latch height out of a child’s reach, and limits on picket spacing and climbable features. Partners repair pool gates to those requirements and will tell you when an existing barrier would not pass rather than welding a hinge onto a non-compliant gate.
A fresh weld is bare steel and will rust within days in Houston humidity or Gulf Coast salt air. Partners grind the weld, remove spatter, and apply a rust-inhibitive primer before the job is closed; a color-matched topcoat follows when you want it. Posts set in concrete fail at grade because water pools there, so a repaired post gets the base sealed or a sleeve added. Galvanized fence loses its zinc in the heat-affected zone and is touched up with zinc-rich compound. In West Texas sun, paint fades before steel rusts, so UV-resistant topcoats earn their cost.
A gate with one failed hinge and a sound frame is a repair. A gate with rust perforating the bottom rail, a twisted frame and pitted pickets is a replacement, because every weld on thin rusted tube finds the next weak spot. The same logic applies to trailers: a cracked tongue on a solid frame gets a new tongue, while a frame rusted through at several cross-members is unsafe to tow no matter how much weld goes on it. Partners give that assessment from photos when they can, before travel is on the bill.
Stick welding with 6011 or 7018 rod handles rusty, painted or outdoor steel and shrugs off wind, which is why it dominates gate and fence work. MIG gives a cleaner bead on thinner tube and railings and is faster on new fabrication. Aluminum boat trailers and patio furniture take TIG or spool-gun MIG with 5356 filler for strength or 4043 for castings. Cast iron is brazed or stick welded with nickel rod after preheat and cooled slowly. Trailer couplers and safety chains are welded to their rated capacity, and anything on a vehicle frame follows manufacturer guidance.
A residential welder spends most of a small job driving, setting up and cleaning up, not welding. That is why partners quote a minimum visit charge that covers travel and the first stretch of work, then bill additional time or by the item. A ten-minute hinge weld still costs the minimum, but a second item on the same visit, the mailbox post or the grill cart, often costs very little extra. Grouping repairs is the best way to get value from a mobile visit.
Send photos first. A partner will tell you whether the gate, railing or trailer is a sound repair or money better spent on replacement.

FAQs
Straight answers to what homeowners ask before booking.
No. Partner welders carry engine-driven machines and generators, so nothing plugs into your house. You only need to provide access for the truck and a clear area around the repair.
Most partners charge a minimum visit fee that covers travel and the first portion of work, then add time or materials beyond that. Photos get you a real number before anyone drives out, and a second item on the same visit is usually inexpensive.
If the frame is sound, a sag is cured with new hinges, a diagonal brace or a re-squared frame. If the tube is rusted through or badly twisted, a new gate is the honest answer. Partners assess this from photos whenever possible.
Yes. Aluminum needs TIG or spool-gun MIG with the right filler, and partners who carry that equipment are matched to those jobs. Porous cast aluminum is quoted after a look at the break.
Every weld is ground and primed before the partner leaves; a color-matched topcoat is available. For coastal and humid areas, ask for post bases to be sealed and for zinc-rich touch-up on galvanized fence.
Yes, on utility, boat and livestock trailers. Couplers, tongues, hangers and safety-chain loops are welded to match their rated capacity. Frame members with widespread rust are flagged as unsafe rather than patched.
Partners repair pool gates and fences to the self-closing, self-latching and height requirements in your local pool barrier code and will tell you if the existing barrier would not pass inspection.
Repairs that match the existing fence or gate rarely need approval. A new gate or a visible change in style or height may; check your covenants first and the partner will build to the approved design.
Same-day and next-day visits are often possible, subject to partner availability. Safety items like a loose stair rail or a gate that will not close are prioritized.
